Mozel Sanders Thanksgiving Dinner

The Mozel Sanders Thanksgiving Dinner has been an Indianapolis holiday tradition for nearly 30 years. The late Rev. Sanders, succeeded by a dedicated group of his family and followers along with thousands of volunteers, have made Thanksgiving a time when the needy can also enjoy some of the blessings of the season. Thousands of dinners are prepared, served, and delivered each Thanksgiving. Iota Lambda Chapter Brothers have for many years been among the volunteers, assisting in this annual, grass-roots, celebration of giving.

Aetherton Hall at Butler University Campus was the primary site for preparation of the dinners.

Butler University's generous contribution of its spacious kitchen facilities expedited the extensive food preparation.

Br. Damon McDade assumed a leadership role in processing the many community volunteers.

Iota Lambda Br. Ed Squires was also among the many volunteers, assisting with unloading food trucks and other duties.

WISH TV-8's news crew with reporter Mary McDermott was one of several media organizations who covered preparations for the annual dinner.

Br. Damon McDade is pictured here with a long-time member of the Thanksgiving Dinner team, coordinating the intake of volunteers in the spacious Aetherton Building ballroom.

Volunteers crowd the Aetherton Building cafeteria on Wednesday night before the Thanksgiving holiday, performing a variety of preparatory tasks.
